False news by omission: The stories the mainstream media refuse to report.
As well as fake news from the mainstream media, perhaps even a bigger problem is false news by omission. This is a common practice by the biased mainstream media, as demonstrated by the following examples...
In Donald Trump's first month as president the national debt went down by $12 billion.
In Obama's first month the national debt went up by $200 billion1.
Not surprisingly, the biased elements of the media failed to report this drop in the national debt. The only news sources to report this were news blogs and the alternative media.
The mainstream media did, however, subsequently report on Donald Trump's tweet, but only so they could downplay his achievements.
In Obama's first month the national debt increased by $212 billion, after his first year in office the increase was $1.4 trillion, and at the end of Obama's eight years as president, the national debt had increased by $9.3 trillion2.
If the national debt had increased by $212 billion during Trump's first month in office, I wonder if the media would have reported it?

2 When Obama took office on January 20, 2009, the national debt was $10.6 trillion. On January 20, 2017, it had increased to $19.9 trillion. That's an overall increase in the national debt under Obama of $9.3 trillion.
The US stock market continues to show optimism as the DOW extended its streak of record setting gains to 11 straight days. This is the longest streak since 1987.
To be fair, this was reported by financial websites, but it received very little coverage from the mainstream news media.
During Donald trump's first month in office there were approximately 1,500 human trafficking arrests.
In 2014 there were 443 in the entire year (according to official FBI figures).
Human trafficking should not be a partisan issue. The media should not allow their political bias to impact upon the fight against human trafficking. This is something we should all come together to fight.
These arrests and the bringing down of human trafficking rings should be a massive story. Yet the media has been strangely quiet on this crackdown on human trafficking.
Why is this issue not getting the coverage it deserves in the mainstream media?

It's unrealistic not to expect the media to have any bias. The problem is when they pretend to be fair and unbiased. The majority of the mainstream media are not neutral, so they should not pretend to be.
In an ideal world the media spectrum would provide diversity of opinion. However, today 6 corporations control 90% of the media in America3. This is bad news for healthy open discussion, and it's especially bad news while the media continue to pursue the policy of false news by omission.
