Positive reaction to President Trump's address to Congress
According to a CNN/ORC poll, President Trump's address to Congress was received with optimism by the majority of the American public.

President Donald Trump's speech was received very positively by the majority of the American public.
57% of viewers had a very positive reaction to Trump's speech.
78% had either a very positive or somewhat positive reaction to Trump's speech.
More than two thirds of the American people are optimistic about the direction the country is heading in under President Trump.
69% of the American public believe Trump's policies will move the country in the right direction, with only 29% believing the opposite.
Confidence that the country is heading in the right direction increased after President Trump's speech.
69% of viewers feel that Trump's policies will move the country in the right direction, up from 58% prior to Trump's speech.
More than two thirds of the American people feel more optimistic as a result of President Trump's speech.
69% of the American public viewers felt more optimistic after watching Trump's speech, with only 28% feeling more pessimistic.

As long term Trump supporters will already know, President Trump's speech was very similar to the speeches delivered throughout his election campaign. Trump mentioned many of the same policies he always has, for example:
* Cut taxes.
* Renegotiate fairer trade deals.
* Bring back jobs.
* Deport criminal illegal immigrants.
* Increase support for veterans.
* Defeat ISIS.
The difference is that some voters are only now listening. Too many people relied on the mainstream media to tell them what to think.
After the way much of the mainstream media have attempted to whip people up into a frenzy of hate, it was inevitable that some less investigative viewers would be fooled by the narrative and would be genuinely concerned over certain issues.
So for those who are genuinely concerned about certain issues, the best advice is to watch this and previous speeches by President Trump, and you may discover that there are many issues that Democrats and Republicans can and should work together on.
