Hollywood knew about Harvey Weinstein's sexual abuse back in 2013. They laughed and joked about it.
Harvey Weinstein's predatory sexual abuse was an open secret among the stars of Hollywood for years.
At the 2013 Oscars, Seth McFarlane read out the five nominees in the 'Best Supporting Actress' category, then followed this up with, "Congratulations, you five ladies no longer have to pretend to be attracted to Harvey Weinstein.”
The audience immediately got the joke and burst out into laughter.
Seth's face at the end of the clip makes it clear that he is not joking and is being deadly serious. Seth recently confirmed that he made the joke because his friend and colleague Jessica Barth had suffered sexual harassment from Weinstein.
More evidence that Weinstein's abuse was an open secret can be found in this clip from 30 Rock where Jenna remarks, "Oh, please. I'm not afraid of anyone in show business. I turned down intercourse with Harvey Weinstein on no less than three occasions ... out of five."
In the following season, the same character made the following reference, "In some ways, I'm still pinned under a passed-out Harvey Weinstein, and it's Thanksgiving."
French actress Emma de Caunes, herself one of Weinstein’s victims, recently said, “I know that everybody - I mean everybody - in Hollywood knows that it’s happening. He’s not even really hiding. I mean, the way he does it, so many people are involved and see what’s happening. But everyone’s too scared to say anything.”
As highlighted recently by Redpilled World, even after the New York Times article on October 5th which revealed decades of abuse by Weinstein, Hollywood stars initially still stayed silent over Weinstein. They only spoke out once he was fired, and there was no longer any risk to their careers:
